Yeah. There's a huge difference between healthy narcissism -- being proud of your accomplishments and talents -- and Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Everyone has engaged in a healthy narcissistic trait or two, and yeah, people who constantly talk about themselves could be doing it as overcompensation. I've known a few.

But having NPD is a whole other ballgame. People with NPD are toxic and abusive because they genuinely believe they're more special than the rest of us, which means they're entitled to treat people like crap and get away with it.
