Ergh, yeah, that's quite insulting, both to Ed and to the women who like him. Isn't it just wonderful when other people claim they know why we women find someone attractive?

I don't know a whole lot about this guy outside of a couple songs and bits of interviews I've seen with him, but even with that, I'm in agreement with you that he seems like a really sweet, decent guy. And shockingly, people find that an attractive quality! Who knew, right?
