I concur. If people want to draw the characters in a different style, then let them. I don't understand why they always have to be good looking, but (shrugs).

Also, the "it's a silly cartoon so it can't have a fandom" attitude irks me.

I hate that "it's a silly cartoon so it can't have a fandom" sentiment... I can't speak for everyone in the fandom, but the reason I fell so hard into this fandom is because of the characters. Animation aside, I adore the characters and I think that's plenty of reason for a fandom to exist.

If I might butt in ... I completely agree. ^_^ The characters are just plain awesome, and it's nice to see them pimped out with various fan activites. I mean, okay, maybe the anime style is rather overdone and stuff, but I mean, come on, it's FANDOM, and anime style makes everything pretty and beautiful.

I think it's almost a special case with this fandom, because at one point I had no idea how the show could have one... And then I started watching it and couldn't imagine it not having a fandom because the characters are just that lovable.

And, I mean, whether you slash them or not, the relationships are incredibly cool. I mean, the whole Stan and Kyle best friends thing? I mean, I could go on and on, but damn, I enjoy them.

Oh yeah, definitely. Because of course, if it's animation and it's NOT from Japan, it doesn't have any merit beyond the lol-factor, and people can't possibly grow to really like the characters or anything silly like that.
