65: ...you know, I've been watching the whole series on DVD lately and they swapped the actresses around so much that I can't remember who the girl is... it's got to be either Bobbie Wickham or Stiffie Byng because none of the others would presume to put their feet in Bertie's lap like that... unless it's the lovely Miss Stoker? If it's Pauline, that might actually have a chance of working, although for most purposes I'm a die-hard J/W shipper...

It's not that cracktastic when you consider that cousin-marriage a) isn't legally considered incest in Britain and b) was once quite common among families of Bertie's social class. (See, e.g. Pride and Prejudice: Mr Collins is Elizabeth Bennett's first cousin and Mrs Bennett is very eager for Elizabeth to marry him so that their house [which has to pass to a male relative] will stay in the family. Elizabeth's not interested, but it's not because he's her cousin, it's because he's a dickhead.)
See, if Bertie ever did pair up with a girl, it would have to be someone like Angela. Someone he felt comfortable with, who knew him well enough not to want to "improve" him.
...it's entirely possible that I may have given this too much thought. :)
