About 9 years ago, South Park was my major fandom. Around that time I was also really starting to get hardcore into anime. I got curious about what the fandom was like in Japan and eventually found one or two Japanese fan sites. I was so incredibly blown away by the idea of South Park characters in anime-style! They even shipped! Slashing SP characters wasn't my cup of tea so I didn't dig it that way, but it was still kind of amusing in its oddness. But a week or so later the site closed down without me getting to save any of the art. I tried to buy the doujin by the artist on the rare occasions it'd end up on eBay, but this was when I was still in high school and before I had a job so I just never had the high bid.

Now... it's a huge thing with the American fanbase and isn't so new and different. But just to let you know it's been going on in one form or another for muuuch longer than you may think.

Which... probably doesn't help at all. Sorry, us old people tend to go into long stories that don't have any po--

...Man, it is a testament to how much fun I had in SP fandom circa 1999 that I saw your username and immediately went "omg Penny!".

I've had the same reaction to all these SP secrets lately... the shipping, the anime-inspired art, the OCs, the RPs, the fandrama- we already did it all! And we did it before ff.net, livejournal, or any sort of offical forums. Trailblazers, clearly. ;D

Oh lord, Penny! xD The only Mary Sue I ever wrote, if you can believe it. Well no wait I think I also did a self-insert. Ah, to be 14 again. Thinking I was some kind of pioneering genius for setting up a collective of South Park fanfics.

She was the first Mary Sue for SP though, right? That's gotta be something to be proud of. XD

I didn't post much, I was too shy! I was KennyGirl2000 (oh my god, self), and had an OC called Echo. I think she's still up on the Mary Sue OC database site thing, if that's still kicking around.

Man, that was my first real fandom, I have such great memories of it... going on Mr Hat's Hell Hole, making up elaborate future universes, RPing with people over ICQ. :D (and even now I still end up doodling the occasional Slade/Estelle/Eve/Mikki&Palle/etc, ahaha)
