I imagine there's also a dash of GET THIS 3D OUT OF MY MEGAMAN contributing to the lack of a fandom, because I've seen it take some heat in the past for not playing like a traditional Megaman game, sadly. :/

It's a fantastic pair of games in its own right (or trio, if you include the Misadventures of Tron Bonne, which might be one of my all-time favorites for PS1!), but I think there are some people out there who can't take off the tradition blinders and give it a chance and judge it for what it is (fun) and not what it isn't (traditional).

That's the amusing thing about the fandom. I've even seen people say that the NES games are the only "true" games and that the X series was just a lame imitation. But if you compare it to the series out at the time, it was the biggest break, I suppose. I know that's why I didn't pick it up initially.

But that's the weird thing, Battle Network's sold better than any other series, and it was definitely not traditional. I see that series get tons of flack for being different, yet despite that it's really popular. I guess some things I'll never understand.

I'd like to play Legends some day, though. It does sound interesting.
