(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)Well, I guess you did just because it's what people do now. You can't disagree with someone's opinion without some idiot going "they're ALLOWED to have that opinion!!!" like disagreeing with their opinion is some attempt at forbidding them to have that opinion.
And while of course it's fine for people to have opinions, it isn't necessary to spout them off all the time. I don't generally comment about the looks of people I don't find attractive, and that doesn't make me feel like whining about how I should be "allowed" to do so. Of course it's allowed, that doesn't mean you have to do it.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)The "allowed" response annoys me, because it's basically trying to paint the person you disagree with as making an attempt to censor you. They said they didn't like your opinion, so they must be telling you you're "not allowed" to have the opinion! Only they weren't.
I know you're not consciously doing it, it's just what people do now. But it's annoying. Find a new way to respond to people instead of saying you're allowed to do whatever. Unless the person actually said you weren't allowed to do it, which the OP of this secret did not do.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-02 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)I find it funny when someone says "it's hurtful when someone says so and so" and the response is a kneejerk "so I'm not ALLOWED to have an opinion" , if only because they're showing they know what they're doing is probably rude and harming someone, but at the same time the realization bothers them.
Funny and kind of sad.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 12:23 am (UTC)(link)Don't you know you're automatically right if you call someone a pet name condescendingly?

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 12:22 am (UTC)(link)If what you mean is "this is a normal thing to do" then SAY "this is a normal thing to do" not "I'm allowed to do X." The latter comment has nothing to do with anything unless someone actually said you aren't allowed to do something.
Anyway, if you feel like someone complaining about something is an attempt at forbidding you from doing something, then maybe you need to grow up and address or respond to people's complaints instead of hiding behind a pretense that the complainer is trying to censor you. In other words, deal with the fact that people disagree with you and that it is normal for them to express that disagreement.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 12:36 am (UTC)(link)This is another things that's become normal that I hate. People saying any old crap and insisting that it means something other than what it usually means. And expecting everyone to know what they mean despite that.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 03:20 am (UTC)(link)In other words, it's TOTALLY OBVIOUS what you meant, even though you said something different?
Sorry, but getting annoyed at someone for saying one thing when they meant something else isn't pedantry. It's normal.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-03 12:26 am (UTC)(link)In the last two days I've seen a ton of anons with this attitude and it's really infuriating.
