Absolutely. We're so used to seeing extremely attractive people on TV that we expect actors to be that attractive. And if they look slightly less attractive, people find them 'ugly'. They wouldn't find the same person ugly if they were their neighbour or their coworker or someone they might go out on a date with. But on a movie screen, on fancy photo shoots, compared to other gorgeous actors? They suddenly look ugly.
