I totally get this. This almost killed a friendship of mine - I actually didn't talk to the person again for several years. She seemed to regard watching movies as an excuse to hang out and talk nonstop (and drink until she passed out, as she did on many occasions,) and she didn't seem to care when I was trying to show her some of my favorite movies. Finally, I just stopped trying.
