Well, if you decide to post you might find other shippers! It's always possible other people like the idea of the pairing but didn't write fic themselves for whatever reason, or that people might get curious, read your fic and become hooked. Either way if the pairing isn't super popular, you probably won't get a ton of sudden attention, so you'll have some time to think things over, edit the fic if you want, etc.
