I suppose that's true. But despite his terrible personality and horrendous actions, he still has a fantastic job, a permissive boss, a loyal best friend, and (most of the time) the admiration of his colleagues. His team also grows to become very protective of him...in a sense. I think there's an argument there that is because of his medical skills, but a lot of people are good at things without being dicks about it.

For God's sakes, he got Wilson's girlfriend killed. A lot would argue that was only partially his fault...as would I, but it was supposed to be the straw that broke the camel's back, but instead Wilson comes crawling back to him. Why?

I love the show, don't mistake me. The writers are extremely hard on him, too. But it's not like he's been really punished. Most of the show, he's in a nice, cushy position.

Amber getting killed wasn't really House's fault, he didn't crash the truck into the bus.
