I'm thinking of making a DW account. I'd like to join this site as a named user. However, there's been a lot of talk about FS dying so I'm hesitant. Is it worth it at this point?

Well, one, there's no harm in it either way. It's a free account.

Two... I mean, it's been declining, sure, but it's not going to actually die any time soon. I think it's actually hit a bit of a plateau at the moment.

If you want to, why the hell not? You can always log out if you decide you hate it, or never use the account again if FS does spontaneously expire.

Odds are people won't remember who you are anyway. I'd say it's worth it to more easily track your conversations.

I would, to distinguish myself from the other anons, because I'm tired of all the high and mighty named users assuming that I'm a troll... On the other hand, I have issues with depression, which has resulted in a horrendous memory, and there are people who will rip you apart if you ever contradict yourself (or god forbid, actively change your mind about a subject), so I fear that. I wouldn't, personally, but it's your call, dude.

Op here. I don't know much about DW. What else do you use it for? Is it like a journal? Are there different communities to join?

It's a blog site aka journal. It's like LJ in that respect. Look around for communities, there should be some. I know only Epic recs comm.

Idk if it's worth it for you.

It's simple, so even if you make a username and end up abandoning it you lose nothing. If you're interested I say give it a try; worst case scenario you don't like it and go back to being anon.

f!s can be a bit slow at times, but there's still a good bit of conversation to be had on good days. It's really convenient getting emails about comments too.

Plus, icons. Icons are incredible.

I have absolutely no issue with anons so if you don't that's fine, but it is of course always nice to see and get to know new people. (Plus, there's always someone complaining about there being no new blood around here, so you might make those people happy!)
