I haaaaate Reluctant Hero plots. That's one of the reasons I'm always rooting for the villain: they're actually decisive! They see what they need to do, and they fucking do it! Meanwhile, Our Hero is back at the farm, wringing his hands for an hour or 250 pages, agonizing over whether he wants to get involved. Ugh, fuck off and let someone else get to work.

[Related to that (actually, this would be the higher-order category), I hate passive main characters, who do nothing but react to events instead of driving the plot forward by their decisions.]

You know who's frequently a Reluctant Hero, whom I also hate? The Chosen One. Fuck that guy, give me the character who triumphs over The Adversary by their own motivation and hard work and success they've earned through their choices and efforts.

As an addendum to your Reluctant Hero hatred - what makes it worse for me is that so often they're horribly unsuited to the role they're trying to fulfill, and don't even make a serious effort to improve at it. What the hell. Let somebody qualified do it instead.

(Interestingly, I am actually working on a story where the MC is very passive XD but it's more that his priorities are completely different, and "fulfilling the plot" is incidental to him. How successful this will be remains to be seen...)
