You should do it, OP. As a rare-pair shipper myself, in a situation similar to yours, I know I'd appreciate finding GOOD and NEW fic --- so I did it. And you should too!

Worst case scenario, if you publish it under a new/different handle/handle made just for that fandom/publishing fic, you don't have to worry about people following your stuff or a poor reception.

Best case scenario, you've made who knows how many random people into your pairing happy! Do it for you, for the silent anon who wishes there was more quality fic for your unloved pairing!
