I've found it hard to actually find betas, both because my fandom is small and because it is harder to find betas for PWPs.

I always read over multiple times and do my best to find errors. And as soon as I see something or someone points it out I fix it. But I haven't been able to find a beta, which I know would be a lot better.

Same.

I have a nearly 20k fanfiction i'm writing and feel it's a little monotonous - i would love for someone to read the material and offer feedback, but the fandom is not that big.

AYRT

If the author makes the effort to edit their own story, that's fine, and very appreciated. I'm not nitpicking about a few common typos or anything. I'm talking wrong character names, and one memorable incident where an amputated limb switched from right side to left side.

Oh, yes, that level of error is annoying. I don't mind small mistakes, but when you are misspelling characters names and getting big details wrong I tend to backbutton out.
