I always recommend Philip Levine and Anne Carson. Are you looking for spoken word by any chance? If so I must always rec Dominique Christina.

I have no idea what spoken word is, but I think I've seen some in tv shows--The Fosters had one, I think? It was kinda okay, I guess, but I don't remember it that much.

Could you link for some stuff (whether just the text or an actual reading) or titles of the poems you particularly liked from the authors you mentioned? That'd be cool.
