(Anonymous) 2016-01-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)I'm in my early 20's and I hate fandom. The majority of the tumblr crowd from what I've seen is between 14-30 and most in that age range complain about how toxic the environment is.
I don't think it's anything to do with age, it's just the platform of tumblr lends itself to more drama by shared tag space and no real privacy or option to make your blog viewable only by your mutual friends. Anyone can follow you or view your blog.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-05 04:10 am (UTC)(link)There was always wank and some of it even reached the infamous level, but chances are you wouldn't see something be reblogged with 345,000 notes and shared on facebook 50,000 times and then favorited on twitter, etc etc etc.
The more people that see something = the more chance wank will continue even if the original parties have moved on.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-05 05:00 am (UTC)(link)Once this stuff would've been laughed out of fandom, but now the otherkin keep trying to legitimize themselves by appropriating trans and mentally ill rhetoric, so calling them on their bullshit gets called you trans or ableist, even if the person in question is neither trans nor mentally ill.
