CCS universe. Though they mix Syaoran's story with TRC!R!Syaoran's.

Ohhhhhh...okay. The art is weird though...why use fanart when the original art is so fantastically fantastic?

Because the original pics don't reflect how dark and angsty the AU!versions are!

They need something that shows how CCS's Syaoran became a murderer and Sakura got horribly depressed and tricked by her friends and family to not be able to help Syaoran!

...Why must they darken the most adorable and sweet of all CLAMP's series? (I mean, use X or something!)

They're in Econtra RPG.

I don't know. They're far angstier than the TRC versions, and that's saying something. And it just reeks of bad!fic. Poor Sakura, tricked into losing her soulmate! Syaoran is TRC!Syaoran! He keeps his eyepatch and his tattoos for no reason! They have dark magic and dark dreams and dark personalities and dark icons and dark everything! They have new "cool" names for each other despite Sakura's name being significant to her because of Nadeshiko, and Syaoran being the same as "Xiao Lang"!

小狼...ah yes that name *loves knowing Chinese* If they really wanted to be all COOL DARK AND ANGSTY they could call him 'Little Wolf' and he'd have some weird wolf totem and and and maybe he'd turn into a wolf when he was angry...

But then again, they don't actually know the LANGUAGE or anything, so it wouldn't really make sense for some little whiny emokids who are soooo dark and soooo cool but are really just poseurs.

'Scuse me, pardon me, butting in! ^^- Don't worry, I'm not one of the two muns come to bite your head off. I am in Econtra though. The point is not to be "COOL DARK AND ANGSTY". Their past is complicated, and quite well thought out. Even the muns themselves joke about how out-of-hand angsty it's gotten, and are working to give the two muses a break. Neither of the muns are "little whiny emokids who are soooo dark and soooo cool but are really just poseurs", either. They're quite reasonable and down-to-earth people.

Also. Knowing more than one language is great, but not knowing a certain language shouldn't be basis for ridicule. I'm willing to wager that most Americans into anime don't know Japanese. Yet they use Japanese names and sometimes little phrases.

Not trying to start a wank war here folks. But please don't badmouth others when you don't know them, or even anything about them other than second-hand trash talking.

If you think "horribly OOC and badfic!like" = "well thought out", then good for you!

I'm sure the muns are nice people. That doesn't mean I don't think that their AU!versions of Sakura and Syaoran fail horribly.

Not knowing a certain language can be a basis for ridicule if you're using it to be cool and give your characters "new names". They don't make sense, and for the record, I don't know Chinese either. I just know enough Japanese to know that Syaoran = Xiao Lang. And I've read the manga, so I know that the name "Sakura" is important because it's connected to Nadeshiko. I'm pretty sure Sakura wouldn't want to have a different name.

No need to get snippish. I never said that. My opinion is that their backstories are well thought out, yours is that they're "horribly ooc and badfic!like". The reason they gave the characters new names is because of the connection between them. It's a token of their deep bond and the love they have for each other.

I've read the manga too. Sakura was a very important name--to Nadeshiko. Not that Sakura doesn't love her mother despite having only known her for the first three years of her life, and not that Fujitaka likely hasn't expressed how important the name is. Ying Fa and Xiao Lang are names Sakura and Syaoran started calling each other, privately. But in Econtra, Sakura decided to use Ying Fa as her name.

But that's exactly what I said! If you like them, then good for you.

The new names don't make sense. It's not Fujitaka that says the name is important. It's Sonomi. To Sakura. Volume 3? When she opens the box that Shield was guarding, and she sees the bouquet that Nadeshiko had in her wedding. Sonomi explains that Nadeshiko loved sakuras, and that she'd name her daughter after them. And that Sakura is "that Sakura".

But well, I guess that one's more subjective.

Syaoran being called Xiao Lang, though? Isn't. For Sakura, "Syaoran" is the way to say "Xiao Lang". It's Japanese phonetics. Syaoran calls himself "Syaoran" in the manga. There's no difference for a Japanese person. Therefore, the name change is ridiculous.

The reason they didn't let Sakura go after him is because they didn't want her to die because it was clearly a trap for her to go after Syaoran.

And considering Syaoran only killed the evil villain and his evil minions, I don't think that's too uncalled for. After all, it's a common thing to happen in any stories with evil bad guy and minions involved.

Right. Only that Sakura is the most powerful magician in the CLAMP-verse. Even if it was a trap, she'd be able to defeat Fei Wang Reed. And her friends wouldn't conspire against her going to rescue Syaoran. They'd be all trying to help her.

Lemme guess... They think real!Syaoran is older CCS!Syaoran...

But I thought it was an AU Universe that combined the two? The way I understand it, that Universe has inspiration from TRC, but it has no direct relation to it?

And why not just join anyway if you love the game? What would say you'd "have" to play with them?

It combines the two universes in the worst way possible and it turns two of my favorite characters ever into two wangsty emo kids.

I'd probably want to join as a character from either TRC or CCS, since I like both so much. That's why I don't want to join, I'd most likely end up interacting with them eventually.

No really. Even after months of playing, the only interaction I've had with them was because the TRC muse went 'Princess?' on Ying Fa. Fact is, unless you have a character in their fandom, you don't have to interact with them at all. Heck, even in their fandom, you can avoid it depending on the relation of the people.

I play as OU!Sakura at Econtra. They're bleh to me, and I haven't interacted with either yet.

AU!Syaoran was not based solely on the idea that he's TRC!R!Syaoran. In his history, Fei Wong (or whatever his name is) is his uncle, and imprisoned him for a while when he returned to Hong Kong. The tattoos represent a 'Darkness' that said uncle placed in Xiao Lang, not as a seal to imprison him. And the eye patch was something the muns wanted because they preferred it as a visual aesthetic and something of a way to differentiate between AU and OU. So it came from a wound, not from not having that eye due to it being half his heart implanted in a clone.

To my understanding, Xiao Lang was created before the idea that Real!Syaoran is CCS!Syaoran became popular.

I'm sorry, I'm trying to reply but I'm laughing at the "Darkness" that was placed in Xiao Lang.

I don't care when he was created. It doesn't excuse how awful and wangsty they are.

Laugh all you like. I'm not saying it was a particularly clever idea, I'm just saying that was the reason for the tattoos.

I knew that already. The whole point of the secret is to express how ridiculous and wangsty and emo those versions are. That includes the "Darkness" tattoos as well.

implies that you were under the impression that he IS played as TRC!R!Syaoran who never lost the markings from being imprisoned.

Ah, yeah. I did remember him keeping them because of some darkness thing! I mixed it up.

It doesn't mean it's not ridiculous anyway.
