The doctor guy was too creepy me for me to attempt a slash viewing on him. And...yeah, I think the merchant's one of the assassinations I didn't get to see.

*cough* Erm, well in Assassin's Creed it's heavily implied that Abu'l Nuqoud is gay (I don't think they out and out say so but I might be wrong) and he's an overweight, jewelry loving kind of guy. Also, fabulous.

And I see the same thing crop up in other series I'm into. But maybe it's just my fandoms! I have a theory about the whole thing but I don't want to ramble on.

Nuqoud : Look at me! My very nature is an affront to the people I ruled. And these royal robes did little to muffle their shouts of hate.
Altair: So this is about vengeance then.
Nuqoud : No, not vengeance. My conscience. How could I finance a way in service to the same god that calls me an abomination.

But yeah, check out the cutscene of his speech before Altair slices and dices if it's on YouTube. I think he strokes one of his guards. He was the merchant guy so you didn't see but if you had I've no doubt you would pick up on the whole...thing.

Well, between standards of the time period and standards of our time period...suppose I don't blame them.

Still feel sorry for him, though. ;_;

Standards of our time period...yeah, you're probably right and that's kind of sad too.

And yes! He's not a nice guy and doing what he did is not a good thing, but you pretty much have to feel sorry for him when he's trapped in this kind of 'what I am is disgusting to everyone else' world. He has more of a motive for being a 'bad guy' than a lot of the other targets.

The rest of them were mostly greedy, sadistic, or generally nuts. Him...well, he had a lot to gain on a personal level.

Although I do like what Altair said when he killed him. That was sweet, in an odd 'here's a knife in your throat' sort of way.
