TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Good catch. Sorry.

"I feel sorry for the boy who pressures her into prom sex"

A line from deadpool. Who else has suddenly lost all interest in seeing this?

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Not me, because I don't judge whole movies by one line.

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
When that one line is expressing sympathy for rapists? No.

Does it hurt to be so sensitive to harmless jokes?>

DA

For some, it's not harmless.

But nobody should be going into a Deadpool movie not expecting this level of crudeness. It's Deadpool.

Yeah seriously, if this is the line for you, the deadpool movie was never going to be something you had any chance of liking.

AYRT

Exactly. I like the comics but if people want to boycott the movie I'm all for them doing it, it's their freedom to, but they should be informed at least about what they're going into before being excited about seeing it in the first place

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
How is it not harmless? HOW? It isn't addressing rape. It is addressing 17 year olds who try to sweet talk girls into fucking them. Have some people never been to prom, or high school or seen a movie about prom or high school? Most people are not rapists. But many people will go, "Ah, come on babe is is prom! I got us a hotel room!" And then either be disappointed and go home alone or happy and have prom sex.

Also, even if it was about rape, it is implying that the rapist will get the shit kicked out of them. OP should love that!

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Eh some people get upset about rape being mentioned even. I'm not saying it's "generally harmful" I'm saying it could harm some, depending on who they are and what they react to

Either way, my point stands that if this is the level what bothers them, they weren't going to like the rest

Persuading someone to have sex is considered rape

Context? Who said it? Are they supposed to be a role model, or shown to be definitely not a role model?

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Deapool.

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well... I would put Deadpool into the Definitely Not a Role Model category

And if the movie is true to the comic, so will it

I feel sorry for those who are familiar with Deadpool who will have to deal with stupid parents taking their young children into an R rated film, much less Deadpool because they think 'yay, new comic movie.'

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
If that offended you, I don't think you could handle a Deadpool film without bursting into tears.

Re: TW for rape.

...it's Deadpool though.

...why on earth did you have any interest in Deadpool in the first place? Do you even know anything about the character? This kind of thing is 70% of his dialogue.

Re: TW for rape.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I never had any interest cause I am in the minority of fans who isn't interested in Deadpool cause I never thought he was that funny.
