To the RarePair Shippers/Readers...

(Anonymous) 2016-01-07 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
Where would you most likely go to find a fic of your liking?

I'm currently writing one and posting it on LJ...should I post it on AO3, ff.net, elsewhere? I'm okay with little to no comments, that's fine. I just want to make sure that people have access to a fic they might not have run into elsewhere. You know the feeling of not being able to find a fair amount of fic for your pairing...and then finding something [hopefully] good!

Where would you look? Where do you post, if you post fic?

With lj, I only know if someone has read it if they leave a comment. With ff, I get to see the stats, which is pretty cool. But still. Opinions? Experiences?

Thanks!

I look for rarepairs on Ao3. I post fic on Ao3, Tumblr, and sometimes ff.net (ff.net is a bitch to upload to for me so it's usually way behind Ao3 on my updates.)

Ao3 for me. Make sure to tag characters individually. For some reason (more often lately) a lot of people just tag the pairing and not the individual characters.

Livejournal is too hard to navigate and ff.net is where I go when I run out of stuff on AO3.

I post to AO3 (and it's where I go for my fic fix) and link to it on other sites(dreamwidth, tumblr). I avoid ffnet like the plague (I have to be extremely desperate for fic to go there).

AO3 is pretty much the only fic site I use (unless I'm looking for fic in a really old fandom).

I try AO3. That's where I post.

I'd either check out AO3 or ff.net(though that depends on how old the fandom is), the only time I go to Lj is if I am really desperate for fic and hope that a ship-comm is still there or something(or maybe google finds someone that's put together a rec-list for the pair).

I mostly go on AO3 cause (when people are using it correctly) it has the best tagging system and thus makes it easier to find my rarepairs

I check Ao3 first, then FF.net, then tumblr. I don't bother checking sites like LJ (too hard to search, and too many results end up being behind flocks for me to bother), and I don't try google searching or anything like that.

I'll look on both AO3 and FF.Net. It can depend on how old a fandom is as to where you'll find more fic (and readers). For instance I recently got into an older fandom - one going back to the late 90s - and it's definitely more active on FFN still, no matter who you ship. That said I do get more comments/feedback on the stories I post on AO3, so I personally post my stories for this rarepair to both sites.

To try to make sure readers who are interested find it, I have posted fic links on Tumblr and in a few LJ comms where appropriate. I've written some drabbles for the rarepair for some multi-fandom LJ comms still active, and that's driven some traffic to the longer pieces.

AO3 honestly. I also track the RSS feeds of my faves so I don't miss even one. :Bb
