Damn. I gotta read up on my old British colloquiums!

And I wasn't arguing that. I mean that like the internet, Reddit is a collection of various groups coming together to talk about things. Hell, Reddit is more closely regulated and controlled than the internet by far.

Same anon who explained the thing.

Ah gotcha. That makes more sense, tho depending on what parts of the internet you visit, reddit is a lot less regulated and controlled. There's a reason why there are so many subreddits dedicated to illegal or semi-legal things like upskirts or creepshots.

Yeah. But the same can be said for the world in general. There will always be more or less regulated forums/sites. And really, Reddit has cracked down on a lot of those kinds of subreddits (which actually sucks because then those people flood other subreddits and try to take them over).

True, it's all relative. I think reddit is a bit like tumblr in that there's a really disgusting minority that gives the rest of the site a bad rep. Just like most tumblr users just want to reblog aesthetic posts and cute fanart, most redditors just want to share jokes and shitpost memes.

Oh definitely. Hell, Tumblr and Reddit share posts all the time! If I see a funny/cute post (like a pic of a dog or something) on reddit, I can guarantee that I will be seeing it on Tumblr within the same day.

I disagree. There's tons of bile on the front page. Have you read any of the BLM posts in r/news? It's a stinky blend of blatant and subtle racism.

Showerthoughts and r/jokes are also total cesspools. Even twoX has gone to shit since it became a main. It's not a women-centric space anymore; it's just men talking about women. Half the women have left for subs like trollX because TwoX is so fucking hostile.

The fact that there are subs like TrollX, which has over 170,000 subscribers and is very active, kind of proves the point people are making in this thread though.

The front page is what you make of it. The defaults ARE cesspools because they draw the lowest common denominator. If you're still seeing them because you're still subscribed to them, you only have yourself to blame.

Have you not been on reddit for awhile? Subs like that have been shut down because they're, well, illegal.

no one's shutting down r/cutedeadgirls though. ugh.
