And if you think a 8 years old and a 15 years old are totally the same, you have some weird ideas about how human beings work. We have words like babies, kids, teens, young adults and adults for a reason.

I don't, but it doesn't really matter. Teenage brains are literally wired to be impatient and impulsive. Your bodies might have grown up and filled out, but you're a mess of raging hormones and inchoate thought. You are literally not capable of thinking like, or consenting like, an adult for at least another couple years.

So sit down, do your homework, and stop lamenting your inability to legally buy cigarettes and view pornography.

Okay, but there's a difference between a prepubescent child and an adolescent, just as there's a difference between an adolescent and an adult, and just as there's a difference between a prepubescent child and a toddler.

There are multiple stages of development that occur between birth and adulthood, and lumping them all into a single category is not sensible.

wtf? of course I can give or not give my consent as a teenager. legally so, as well as psychologically. Maybe I cannot make good judgement calls and need to be protected more than you would an adult. That is why even in countries like mine, with an age of consent at 14, there are usually laws in place specifically to protect teenagers engaging in sexual behavior from exploitation. Where I live anyone can file a lawsuit if they suspect that a relationship a minor has with an adult is exploitative, and the parents have to give their consent as well, up to the age of 16. Also, any romantic or sexual involvement between a minor and a person in a position of power or of respect (such as a teacher) is prohibited, and will result in a lawsuit though under certain circumstances (She's not really *her* teacher, just a replacement, and the like) they may be acquitted and the relationship allowed.
From my experience, personal as well as second hand, I think that's a much better arrangement than policing teenagers' sexual behavior until they're 18, stuff like statutory rape charges if a 16 YO hooks up with an 18 YO UNLESS they're married, so GET MARRIED OR JAIL (got a case like that in my extended family in the US) and that kind of stuff.
Most people I see complaining about immature teens not being rational and unable to form a relationship get really hung up on the whole "relationship"-deal (or even having kids. TF?), when the part where consent is crucial does not even require a *relationship* but just employing your sex organs, which are, thank you very much, fully functional at around 14. And really, most people at 14 don't look for a meaningful relationship, but want to experiment with sex, with relationships, with themselves in relation to other people, and that experimentation can and will include partners who are older, though rarely older than 25. And really, over here most people are completely fine with that, and moreso because they don't have to worry about doing something illegal.
