If you think about it, traditional societies often did / do follow certain aspects of this, and not always poorly. You would likely enter the family business, whatever that might be. You would probably have your spouse picked by the community (family, matchmaker, etc.) based on your personality, etc. These systems don't necessarily fail in principle. They sometimes don't work for everyone, though, the way today's society lets many people down. All we can do is our best.
