/r/books is my absolute reddit favorite--it's one of the very few places I've found on the internet where there are discussions about books. Everywhere else, with a few exceptions, only has conversations about really commonly read or well-known stuff.

/r/humansbeingbros - people doing nice or heartwarming things. A good antidote to the heaps of negativity and people being bad that you see in the news.

/r/backyardchickens - cute chicken pics and stories, nuff said. Also good if you have questions on chicken care.

/r/DinosaursfuckRobots/ - not a lot of new stuff, but what's there is quality!

/r/SubredditDrama/ - for those who like to sit back and enjoy watching pointless internet rage over inconsequential shit.

/r/TalesFromRetail/ - self-explanatory.

/r/FanFiction/ - for talking about fanfiction.

/r/KotakuInAction/ - for discussing the SJW menace.
