there are feminist subs on reddit, but the atmosphere on all the mains is very hostile. You'll be in the middle of a totally innocuous sub like r/adviceanimals or something and then BAM blatant sexism.

I'm starting to get the impression you people all keep going back to the subs everyone knows are shitty and then are shocked and angry that they're shitty.

So, I don't have anything against Reddit and I don't go there (so have no bad experiences or anything), but as an outsider, to me it *does* seem a sign of being very unwelcoming if a topic as innocuous and humor-based as Advice Animals somehow managed to attract a loathesome crowd. Like, it seems to me that this example is still something that supports AYRT's point that the atmosphere is hostile. I don't want to walk into a reddit discussing Final Fantasy or exercise or film-making tips or whatever and be unpleasantly greeted with misogynists. That WOULD be an atmosphere problem.
