Which is strange because he was clearly suffering the exact same PTSD as Jessica. She was strong enough to survive it, he was not, yet we're supposed to hate him.

this is pretty reductive

jessica was a fucking wreck for a long time and she did some shady boundary-violating stuff (like spying on luke and meddling with that married woman)

but she didn't murder anyone and set them on fire or, like the person above said, put his immediate victim in the position of being his therapist

and he STARTS going back to the pills because he gets this incredibly patronizing macho idea that he has to ~protect~ Trish even though she's made it very clear she wants him to leave her alone and he willfully disrespects that, putting everyone else at risk

they're both deserving of sympathy for the way they were violated but it doesn't give either of them the right to hurt other people, and simpson does way more damage, more maliciously

(also we never see him feel remorse over the things he *chooses* to do, while jessica obviously feels like shit for the ways she mistreated luke and apologizes a ton and wants to make it up to him)

NAYRT - This. So much this. Not sure why people seem so determined to give Simpson a pass.
