SPOILERS

I'll be honest...

I HATE comparing Kylo Ren to Zuko

Zuko was an abused teenager

Kylo Ren has a family that loves him and would accept him back despite all the terrible things he's done. And he's over 29. And he ends up killing his father to become more powerful. He's Ozai. He's not Zuko. He's Ozai.

Well it's not a sincere or serious comparison. I was mostly talking about the inability to control his emotions.

Zuko had much more reason (namely, any kind of reason at all!) to act the way he acted but Kylo's moodiness still brought him to mind.

Spoilers for the novelization

But Kylo Ren was also an abused teenager. Snoke manipulated him for most of his life, maybe even from his birth. (The book doesn't specify how long Snoke was working to corrupt Ben.)

And Zuko never did anything near as awful as Kylo Ren did, even at his worst.

It is not an apt comparison at all, and it's completely unfair to Zuko.

He feels like his parents abandoned him when they sent him with his uncle and that's why he resents them. It doesn't matter how much they love their son, they did a terrible job raising him and making him feel loved.
