Hamilton

Okay, this isn't exactly a complaint but I didn't want to open an extra thread for it.

Since I heard so much about Hamilton (the musical), I decided to give it a listen. And it's interesting, has a few catchy songs... but damn, I find the voice of the actor playing Hamilton unbearably unpleasant. I can't listen to most of the songs because it's so annoying.

Haha the funny thing is, Broadway generally thinks so, too. Lin-Manuel Miranda is an absolute genius, but he's not that great of a singer or actor. He actually has an alternate that plays Hamilton who also I believe was alternate to his role in In the Heights as well. And he's finishing his run as Hamilton very soon, too, if I recall correctly, so hopefully they'll be able to put a better guy in the role. Unfortunately I doubt they'll re-record the soundtrack.

The alternate isn't cause of his abilities - the alternate is cause he is also the writer/director and has a bunch of other jobs, so he gets a day off a week.(Same w/ In The Heights)

Also yeah they never rerecord when an actor leaves unless its actually a full revival. That would be super impractical. Thats why there are some shitty OBC recordings out there.

Ah, so he's the writer? I didn't know that (haven't really looked anything about it up except for the music). Huh. I always think writers/directors playing the main role in their own productions a bit sketchy...
