Tumblr question

(Anonymous) 2016-01-10 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I cannot understand how to add an outside link on your page (like making a link redirecting people to your AO3 account, for example). I read the F.A.Q. and it explains you need to select "redirecting link" on a scroll-down menu, but when I'm on "add a page" there is no option to do so?

What theme are you using? That can sometimes make a difference I think.

I'm using Optica. Adding links to other pages still hosted on my tumblr (like an "about me" page) works fine, btw.

Ok, so Optica doesn't have an option to add a link--you could put it into the description using html (like badass-tiger suggested) or switch to a theme that gives you the option to add a link (it'd be right in the edit theme box).

I don't know how to add a link at the same place as pages hosted on your Tumblr (I know there are custom themes that allow this very easily, but you'd have to dig for them), but I use Optica and I just put the link in my description using normal html tags.

I think I will do that, thanks! Currently I have created a "My AO3" page with a link on it, but it looks a bit like amateur hour so I'll put it in my description instead. Thanks for the help, both you and anon above!

Edit theme
Add a page
then there's a dropdown under 'standard layout', choose 'redirect'

that should be it, unless tumblr's being wierd

All I have outside of standard layout is personalized layout, and it won't allow me to erase the URL of my tumblr to replace it with something from another site.
