On Victorian women wearing pants... It depends on the type of pants and when and why they are being worn. Riding bicycles wouldn't work in a crinoline.

That's not true. It doesn't work well, but that's not the same as not working at all. Some women still wore long skirts with petticoats and a corset while cycling. Others wore bloomers (which aren't really what we think of as "pants", i.e. trousers), which was considered rather scandalous back then and were even banned in some cities. Google and you'll easily find a variety of images showing a variety of dresswear.
