AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM! You can't go to DC and not do that.

Obviously walk a few blocks around the White House. You can do most of the memorials either in the morning or afternoon (I usually only spend about 2-3 hours walking around them)

If you have time and budget, look into doing a hop on off bus tour. I think we did the Grey Line bus when I was kid (so 20 years ago) It's the best way to see some of the harder to reach areas, like the Iwo Jima statue.

I also really like Arlington National Cemetary. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard is a nice ceremony. I also remember liking Robert E. Lee's house, but this was also 20 years ago the last time we did that.

Yeah, the Air and Space Museum seems to be one of the front runners. We planned on maybe doing one of the hop on/hop off tours. Just have to figure out which would be best for what we want to see (there are sooooo many).

And we might go to Arlington. Have to decide when it gets closer and we can see the weather.

There are definitely a lot of hop on hop off bus tours. Since you still have time, do a little research and see what the best value is. Some of them are good for 24 hours, some are 48 hours. The advantage is that most will drive you to Arlington so you don't have to worry about weather and can be in the bus. I think Grey Line is authorized to drive through the cemetery, but that may not be true any more.
