super late, but what the hell:

a big part of the reason i'm never into best friend ships is because it very often comes across like friendship is less important than romance, like it's some kind of step down & you can't (platonically) love your friends just as strongly as you'd love a boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever. so it's nothing but weird to me when people try to make all these accusations towards people for not shipping friends, when it really just is that they enjoy the canon relationship for what it is.

(or for het pairings, it plays into the idea that straight men & women can't be just friends, they HAVE to get together eventually)

i've only read some of the haikyuu manga, and i've never actually considered tsukishima/kuroo as a pairing, tbh? the way you're describing it absolutely sounds terrible, but ooc behaviour in fic's nothing new to fandom. would you like the pairing better if they were properly written, or?

anyway, the part that throws me is that you're trying to act like it's definitely a fans-being-shallow thing, but absolutely everyone is a dorky moron in haikyuu, no exceptions. yamaguchi really isn't special in being weird-looking/too cute/not-suave/whatever. like i have to assume people ship kageyama/hinata, and how is hinata any different?
