I'd googled it. I just hoped that maybe it was a rumor and somebody on here might've heard something else. I don't know. It's shocking for me.

TBH nothing shocks me anymore. People like Bowie are all my parents' age, and with my dad dying I'm coming to terms with the fact that nobody is immortal. Least of all celebrities.

My mom died already but she died young. Part of the shock for me is that he's around my father's age and it seems too young to die, especially for a celebrity who must've had access to the best medical care.

My mother died shortly before her 69th birthday. No, people aren't immortal, but that's still pretty young.

Yeah, he's only a year and a half older than my mom and 3 years older than my dad. Mom's a three-time cancer survivor, too, so it's never fun it hear about someone my parents' age dying of cancer.

I guess it's kinda touching you trust the people here more than you do sources like the BBC, the Independent, NYT, CNN, the Guardian, etc. I don't know why you would, but it's touching.

I held out hope it was a hoax until someone posted his son's post on Twitter.

I've been totally wrecked most of the day since.
