Oh yeah, I'm usually into friendship pairings. They make sense to me because you get the solid foundation of friendship underlying potential (non-canon) romance. I don't think I have a rival pairing other than Haru/Rin, though that I would argue is a friendship pairing - just a soured friendship pairing.

Oh, yea, I definitely see the underlying potential of Haru/Rin being a friendly ship, it just doesn't appeal to me on the same level. I like the deep-set feel of the relationship Haru and Makoto already have, and find it easy to imagine them becoming something more.

But all the same, Rin is clearly important to Haru as well, and they're certainly both passionate people (for swimming, and each other, lol), so I can't say I'm stumped by the existence of that pairing!

BUT then there's Teen Wolf, and Scott/Stiles (who also have an extremely loving and close friendship, that is centrally important to both characters), and I don't ship them. (Despite their relationship being one of the best things about the show. I think there are several reasons for this, but one is that I see Scott as totally straight.)

Sometimes it feels like randomly throwing darts when it comes to shipping. You seriously never know what's going to stick and what won't. I still can't believe BSG's Kara/Lee does nothing for me. If I'd found that ship when I was younger, no one could pry it away from me.

Saw this comment while flatmeming and think it's a perfect answer to secret #11. It's so weird to look back on ships/tropes you've lost interest in. Most jarring for me is rereading something I loved in my teenage years and focusing on totally different characters/pairs on the second read.

It's weird how it happens. With Lee/Kara, I just KNOW it would've hit all the right tropes for me when I was a kid but your interests shift to the left or right or something and suddenly, it doesn't quite fit.

That's true! Interests and opinions change over time.

Frankly, I'm surprised by how many of my old pairings I still ship, but there are certainly times where I loved a character or a particular piece of media and came back to it later only to think, “What was I thinking?"

I haven't even watched BSG... I always mean to. Lol. Especially since I have a friend who is a massive fan, and I think she ships them.
