True, but I think a lot of Bowie fans (male ones, tbh) vastly underestimate how many girls/young women watched that movie and thought, "Holy shit, who IS that guy?" and then went on to become fans of his music.

I'd agree, except that I doubt many of the guys who drooled over Leia's slave outfit went on to watch all her movies and follow her career well into middle age, etc.
