... Her design was perfect. I'm not saying this to troll. I utterly loved it.

Having this fight will change neither of our opinions, so I'll sidestep it: What would you have liked to see, OP, others?

Honestly, I like the 'idea' of the design, and I was looking forward to seeing it in action ever since that preview we got. But in the actual episode, it just looks so... wonky? sloppy? Kinda like those off-model 'QUALITY ANIME' screenshots, except this is actually the model.

It really ruins the effect for me because she just looks derpy as hell in every frame :(

I overall like her design, but the length of her neck bugs me a little bit. I dunno if it's just an animation hiccup or a permanent thing.

DA yeah it very much looked sloppy, she doesn't look well put together. her parts slide around too much, the design needs some solidity

The animation in Steven Universe is super super weak and I don't think the character designs help any, and that may be the problem you're having.

Sometimes even when animation is weak if a character design is successful, it may not be too bad, but if a character design is not working for the animation style then it's just going to be weirdness in every frame.

I love the SU backgrounds but I find the animation super wonky.

I think the boots and coat are a little strange, but I do like the face and head.

Holy fucking shit you read my mind exactly. Some of the fanart I saw was so much better.

...But this is kind of what I've come to expect from SU. I think many of the animators are STILL struggling against this wonky style and it's bizarre designs. Fucking Jasper looked idiotic in almost every shot she was in.

I might be wrong about this, but I figured Yellow Diamond was a sort of "man behind the curtain," much less impressive than her reputation suggests.

her neck is really bizarre and ugly looking
her design seems unstructured, it keeps sliding out of shape. it just doesn't look very good. i like the idea i can see happening with her look, but all together it just come out right.

She wasn't what most people were expecting based on the silhouette (it looks like the design is even slightly altered) but I don't get the big deal about her neck. It's a cartoon. Exaggerated features are normal. It's not any weirder than like, Pearl having a long nose. (Plus she's gigantic, yellow and an alien, so there's that.)

tbh, I like the idea of the design simply bc it makes her seem more alien. the Crystal Gems have been living on Earth for literally thousands of years and have probably adapted more than they realize while Homeworld's gone in a different direction. I like the emphasis on that by design.

ngl tho, I do agree it's kinda fugly, even if it does lead in to some hilarious shit.

I feel like I would have liked it if her face had been just a liiiittle wider. Her face feels to me like someone's been pushing it in from either side a bit.

I liked it. That scene was so funny, and I think Yellow Diamond's super exaggerated design contributed to the humor. That's just my opinion, though!
