I'm not sure what to say other then I'm glad you're seeing a doctor and I hope you can get past this one day, OP. I'm not qualified to give advice (sorry!) but I wish you the best.

Doesn't seem so strange to me. Sometimes we really need to see ourselves in fiction, or a shared struggle. Like, you don't necessarily want to talk about specific things with another person, but fiction can validate that it's something other people deal with, can get through (at least for me). If it's feeling like a fixation to you, though, maybe bring it up to your doctor? They might be able to suggest alternate things you can do.

When I had suicidal ideation, reading about fictional suicides or near-suicides (or death in general) was weirdly helpful to me as well. Reading about real suicide or death wasn't. It's been a long time now, thanks to medication, but I don't think that's strange at all. It's comforting.
