Lori Maddox was a famous groupie at the time. She'd made a hobby of dressing up, sneaking out of the house and hanging around at adult clubs for the express purpose of meeting rock stars and she says that quite a few girls her age did the exact same thing. It wasn't something she believed to be dodgy at the time or now, which is probably why she didn't feel the need to be overly defensive about it.

And apparently she has been lying about the Bowie thing for a while, with nothing to substantiate her claim.

Per Leslie Neidig commenting on the thrillist article: https://www.thrillist.com/entertainment/nation/i-lost-my-virginity-to-david-bowie?ref=twitter-869

"TL:DR Lori Maddox started dating Jimmy Page roughly 9 months before the night she claims she lost her virginity to David Bowie. There is no evidence Lori Maddox ever actually met David Bowie.

It took me less than 3 hours to verify that Lori Maddox lied about having sex with David Bowie. Lori claims in both her blog piece and in the interview on VH1’s Let’s Spend The Night Together that the night she had sex for the first time was with David Bowie on the night of Bowie’s Long Beach show, March 10, 1973.

Lori also confirms the photo of She and Page at the Whisky is the night they started dating. Getty Images dates that photo June 1972. This is a verifiable fact proved not only by Getty Images but also Pamela Des Barres who remembers the night clearly. It was the night Jimmy dumped Pamela for Lori. Lori explains they immediately fell in love and from that point on spent quite a lot of time together. They dated for roughly 18 months.
I don’t think Lori is a bad person. I do think she is a creative historian who embellished her first time to impress her friends. I am guessing she has been telling this story for so long she has started to believe it herself.

I don’t believe Lori ever met David Bowie. No images exist of them together. As of yet, not one person has come forward to verify any of her ever changing stories.

By the way, Jimmy Page is still alive. He absolutely had sex with her when Lori was underage. You could write about that and it would actually be helpful. I mean, if you’re planning to wait until the day he dies to publish.

Below please find the link to VH1’s Let’s Spend the Night Together. Lori’s interview starts around 8:07. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnViqstGsYs"
