Ridiculously late to this post, but I wholeheartedly agree. Arakawa's art is basically the exact opposite of the OVA designs and if I had seen hers first it would be one thing, but I just can't get into it. Especially since I relate her style so strongly to FMA. And it's shallow, but her designs aren't *pretty*. Her round faces make everyone look bloated and the big round eyes make them look childish. That's okay with Arslan and Elam, but on the adults, it does not compute.
