You're in luck OP.

I seem to remember Adele stating early on that the song is actually about her strained relationship with her semi-estranged father. There was some kind of falling out during her "21" era (something about an interview he gave to a newspaper), but they're back on speaking terms now.

But if you've seen the video, it gives a completely different spin on the lyrics.

Same thing with "When We Were Young." Has nothing to do with an ex-, and just her imagining herself at 40 and running into her old friends.
