Hey, come teach English in Saigon! The weather is always nice, there are tons of good eats all over the place, and the party scene is pretty good for the region. Vietnam's beautiful from top to bottom and all the other SEA countries are just a hop and a skip away in case you ever get bored. Our politics are a mess but unlike China the government lets you on Facebook and YouTube, and as an expat you'll be 99% shielded from all the fuckery anyway. You'd be making bank relative to the cost of living even with a pretty lax schedule.

We have a Polish guy at the school where I work. I haven't spoken to him personally and I'm not involved with the HR side of things, but from what I can tell, it's fine if you have the chops, the experience, and/or the qualifications. At the very least, a bachelor's from an accredited US/UK/AUS institution would be useful. I mean, half of our teachers are locals who came back from studying abroad -- obviously not native speakers, though they do have the advantage of knowing Vietnamese.

Then again, at this school we do a lot of test prep (TOEFL, IELTS, SAT, GRE, etc.) so if you have experience with any of those, it's an obvious plus. It's that or working with little kids. Makes me forever bitter really because I run the Writing Program and have a much harder time scrounging up prospective students and teachers, haha. Other institutes cater to different needs and might have different requirements. In general though it's a burgeoning market with huge growth potentials, and at present demand > supply so, you know, armed with a college degree and the gift of the gab...
