Another thing I really love about it is that this is a world where ten-year-olds leave home to go off on adventures, and they're completely safe. They're able to explore with their pokemon and everywhere they go, there are good people who want to help them and take care of them, and in return they can help others. Idk it's very idealistic but it makes me happy thinking about that kind of world.

I guess Pokemon managed to ping this type of wish-fulfillment very well. It seems like an exciting world, that's mostly safe without being boring.
Otoh, I was never the biggest fan of Pokemon. I was crazy about it as a kid when it first came out, but I got over it.

The Pokemon world really is beautiful.
I also have some really great art of it saved on my computer. (Like I have a lot of Pokemon fanart, true, but there are several pieces that really focus on the landscape.)

(Anonymous) 2016-01-19 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)They do have a lot of research centers Pokemon for studying the balance of nature, but then they also keep Pokemon in tiny balls and make them fight each other, so it confuses me when I watch it. I do understand what you mean though.

(Anonymous) 2016-01-19 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)And most pokemon (Pikachu is an exception) like going in their pokeballs too. That's where they rest and it's mentioned as being more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. Plus pokeballs aren't prisons, because on many occasions pokemon pop out of their pokeballs on their own or even against their trainer's wishes (Team Rocket's wobuffet does it the most, but there's a whole lot of other examples too.) And quite often in the anime they choose to hop in the pokeball in the first place on their own, without being caught.
Basically, pokemon don't react to battles and pokeballs the way RL animals react to dogfights or cages, because it doesn't affect them the same way.
