I love the movie, but I'm with the majority on this. The movie is like you said, a time capsule. It would be really difficult to get that 90's science fiction feel.

A prequel would involve a very different Lee-loo.

A sequel would involve a) Corbin being dead, b) a threat completely unrelated to the Big Bad in the first movie, or c) an ass pull reason for the big bad to come back early.

I wouldn't mind more worldbuilding in a comic or novel though.
