They're used to people spending money they don't have. It's fucking annoying.

They were really pushy about trying to lock me into a contract. Verizon flat out refused to tell me how much a phone cost outright. They would only tell me the contract price. Eff that. I went down the street to AT&T, bought the phone outright, switched my service while I was there, and it ended up saving me $20 a month.

From what I know, it's usually cheaper to just buy the phone and then just get a carrier contract. I didn't even consider buying a phone through a company.
