Most of the cashiers around here are pretty good about packing bags fully (or as fully as the bags can handle) but there are certain things you do NOT cram into a bag--bread being one of them. It bothers me if the loaf of bread is squished. And eggs, don't put heavy shit in with eggs....

Once at WalMart, I had a clerk try and put three 2L bottles of pop in one bag--which they then double bagged. I asked her to only put two in a bag--doing it THAT way used less bags and I'd actually be able to fucking carry them.

And if you don't want to use plastic--do stores in your area sell reusable bags (aka "bags for life")? Here they cost about 99cents/bag, they're large and last for a long time. You just bring them with you every time.
