That's a strawman. It's not that people want to spoil everything, it's that they want to be able to have conversations about the subject matter with people who know what happened without constantly having to account for some possibly fictional group that hasn't seen it yet.

Experiment: for the next week or so, every time you talk about any work, put a specific spoiler warning for every fact, including the episode of page or part of the movie it's in. At the end of the week, let me know how much fun those conversations were.
