He does not deserve an Oscar for his performance in The Revenant. The movie wasn't that great and Leo in particular gave a weak performance. Definitely the least compelling actor in that.

If he does get one, it will basically be a pity Oscar.

I enjoyed the movie, but sadly, IA. I didn't think it was strikingly different or a step up from his other performances.

I've realized recently that he just isn't a phenomenal actor. He isn't terrible but a lot of his acting involves yelling, overacting, and staring.

Thank you, yes! Everyone says he's great but there's something about his acting that's always bothered me, and this is it, I think.

I'm always aware that it's Leo. Rather than seeing the character he's playing.

Exactly. He just yells and does the crazy eyes. He is not a subtle actor at all.

DA

Well, there can be non-subtle actors who are still good. But with him, I always feel like I'm definitely watching a performance, I'm watching Leonardo DiCaprio act.

ty, I was feeling kind of guilty for not liking the movie. There were parts of it I enjoyed and it was really pretty but it dragged and certain plot elements bugged me. I'm not sure how the book compares.

It was like half an hour so long. And the CGI was pretty poor considering what can be done these days. The wolf/buffalo scene looked really fake.

Yeah, I agree, but I also think that it's a safe bet he's going to get a pity Oscar this year. I'd love for someone to derail it, but he's going to get it.

So he'll join the pity Oscar club. Scorsese is a member too.
