I'll be contrarian and say I preferred the original Fight Club novel to the movie. Though the movie is good.

I liked the novel better, too. I especially hated the way they changed the ending, omg. I was furious at that.

I felt the same when the movie first came out, but I reread the novel recently, and holy shit, the level of smug, nihilistic pseudophilosophy really grated. The movie's dialed back just enough that it doesn't cross the threshold for me.

(The ending of the novel's still better than the ending of the movie, though.)
