Does anyone know what would happen if during a rape, the victim stops resisting and starts actively participating in the sex and pretending to enjoy it? How would a rapist react?

Just wondering if anyone knows (and if this is a good survival tactic).

Depends on what rapist I would think. Drunk frat boy kind of rapist who wants the sex probably wouldnt care. Rapist who only wants the power trip, not sure?

Depends on the rapist and the situation. It could actually save the victim a lot of suffering.

from personal experience, I can tell you that any and whatever "strategies" I had in my head about what I'd do if attacked flew completely out of my head when confronted by that situation. This of course could vary widely depending on the situation, degree of violence, surprise, etc, but personally, I went on complete fight-or-flight automatic reaction mode - there was no "thought" to any of it. And even if there HAD been time to think "maybe just going easily will make this stop" there would have been no way to convince my body to actually do that.
It's like everyone thinks they know what they'd do if there were a gunman, or a natural disaster, or a car accident: we all like to think we're the hero or that WE'D have reacted better. Fact is - most of us won't.
